Homemade Wasabi Popcorn Recipe

Popcorn is one of my family’s favorite snacks. It doesn’t matter what time of the day it is – it’s always popcorn time. Popcorn is a staple for movie watching, but also perfect for a nighttime bed reading snack. I mean sure sometimes you’ll drop a couple pieces in bed, but don’t worry, you’ll find them eventually! 🙂 This Wasabi Popcorn is the perfect blend of spicy and buttery sweet, it reminds me of a savory kettle corn. It’s not overpowering with the wasabi, so you don’t have to worry about burning your tongue off while snacking on it.

How to Make Wasabi Popcorn

You’ll need 8 cups popped popcorn. I use an air popper to pop our popcorn which is the most healthy option. Not to mention, so easy! Place the popcorn in a large bowl (how cute are these popcorn bowls?). Next mix your butter, soy sauce and wasabi in a small bowl. The soy sauce gives it a little extra savory taste. When the wasabi is completely dissolved, pour over the popcorn.
A little note on the wasabi: I use prepared wasabi in the tube, but if you can only find wasabi powder you can just add water and make your own. Finally, sprinkle salt and sugar on top. The sugar makes it taste like a savory kettle corn. Now sit on the couch and eat it all! 🙂

How to Store Leftover Popcorn

If you have any leftover popcorn store in an airtight glass or plastic container in a cool place, like your kitchen cabinet. Eat within 1-2 days to prevent popcorn from going soggy. Enjoy this Wasabi Popcorn recipe! Pin for later:
