“Best”. I know that’s pretty bold, but this applesauce is just that good. Recipes don’t have to be fancy to be good, and this easy applesauce will prove that in 20 minutes. After eating a spoonful I think you’ll agree this is the best too!
Ingredients
The ingredients are incredibly basic, you probably already have everything! If you want to double or triple this recipe, just adjust the ingredient amounts.
How to Make
Peel and core apples, cut them into quarters.
Bring a large pot of water with a steamer basket to a boil. Add apples and steam until soft, about 15 minutes. Note: if you don’t have a steamer basket, you can boil the apples directly in a pot with a small amount of water, making sure to drain before moving on to the next step.
Remove apples from steamer and place in bowl. Using a potato masher or spoon, mash until smooth. You can also use a food processor to make this easier.
Add sugar, cinnamon and lemon juice to bowl and stir.Serve immediately or put in refrigerator to use within 1 week.
Want to make with a food strainer?
I’m also including food strainer directions as I know some people like this method! I have a Weston food strainer which is really great for applesauce, pumpkin puree and tomato sauce because it peels, cores and deseeds for you!
